We are introducing the exceptional coaches who sit at the heart of ECI Partners’ work, experienced practitioners who bring depth of thinking, commercial acumen and development rigour to the leaders we partner with every day.
Meet Jonathan Sweeney…
1. What is important to me in my coaching
At the heart of my coaching is the intention to create enduring value for the individual.
I am most interested in supporting people to work through challenges, explore different approaches and ultimately become more effective in what they do. Coaching provides a space to step back, reflect and find better ways forward, not just in work, but in life more broadly.
What matters to me is that the impact of coaching extends beyond the immediate issue. When individuals find more effective and aligned ways of operating, the benefits ripple outwards to their teams, their organisations and their personal lives.
Helping someone make changes that are both meaningful and sustainable is what I find most important in this work.
2. What is distinctive about my approach to coaching
My approach is intentionally conversational and grounded. I aim to create a relaxed environment where trust can build, allowing for open, honest and sometimes challenging conversations.
Humour plays an important role in this. It helps create perspective and enables us to explore complex or sensitive topics in a way that feels accessible and non-judgemental.
I often draw on frameworks or readings to provide a starting point for discussion. These are not prescriptive but instead offer a shared language that helps us explore different ways of thinking and approaching a situation. From there, we identify what resonates and what is most useful for the individual.
A core part of my approach is values-based. I support clients to identify what matters most to them and to use this as a foundation for how they lead and make decisions. Any change or development needs to feel authentic to the individual, aligned with their values and consistent with their personal style.
3. What lights me up about coaching
What I find most rewarding about coaching is seeing people realise their potential and continue to grow.
There is something particularly powerful about working alongside someone who is navigating a challenge and supporting them to find a way forward. Those moments when clarity emerges and a path begins to take shape are incredibly satisfying.
I am energised by the opportunity to help people make meaningful changes, not just to solve an immediate problem, but to build confidence and capability for the future.
Seeing that progress and knowing it can positively influence both their professional and personal lives, is what continues to make coaching deeply rewarding for me.
